Frederick Tyler

Having most recently been the Chief Science Officer aboard the USS Dieppe, Tyler was now being placed in Command of the California class USS Blythe after her recent salvaging in the aftermath of the Blackout. Cdr Tyler has been assigned in an Acting capacity, the short term to help deal with and recover from the Vaadwaur invasion. His small crew were about be tested in ways few could imagine, and he would need to draw on everything he had learned over his many years as a science officer and during the Senior Bridge Officer training course he had recently passed at Starbase 86.

Tyler is a nervous and indecisive man generally. His starfleet service and training over the years had only provided a veneer of astute professionalism,. During his time aboard the Dieppe he had been in charge of the science department during a long survey mission near the boundary between the Alpha and Delta quadrants, and had grown close to most of his staff and was accustomed to basic leadership of a small team. With a crew of less then 350, and his department number roughly 45, he found himself extremely on edge after SF Command had assigned him to take command of the Blythe out of the blue with very little notice.
