USS Cardinal (NCC-60150)

The Cardinal maintains a static orbit alongside DS11 while new personnel are assigned. Fleet Admins and Flag Officers debate behind the scenes as to who will crew her. Data from the recent Vaadwaur incident is being analyzed as Task Force 21 and the Fourth Fleet begin upgrades in response.

USS Cardinal

Nebula-class • NCC-60150 • Task Force 21 • Managed by LCDR Thov th'Zeles

Four historic naval vessels have carried the name USS Cardinal. Each ship was a mine countermeasures vessel that utilized advanced sensors to detect waterborne explosives. A major part of the Cardinal’s mission today is to watch Starfleet’s flank for all manner of anomalies.

The USS Cardinal embodies the Federation’s commitment to scientific advancement and humanitarian support to its frontier worlds. The Nebula-class vessel can adapt to the diverse challenges faced along Starfleet’s edge. It is most often equipped with a sensor pod that extends its scanning capabilities across an entire sector with microscopic precision. The craft is a critical early-warning and survey platform when it operates in contested or uncharted regions. Identifying dangerous spatial phenomena is a major responsibility. Information gathered can also be used for intelligence or counterinsurgency purposes. When deployed with her hospital or fighter pod, the vessel shifts seamlessly into roles ranging from colony medical relief to border security reinforcement.

Missions operate at the crossroads between exploration and defense. Cardinal xenobotany and environmental science divisions coordinate closely with civilian terraformer teams to prepare and preserve new colonial sites. The astrophysics department investigates stellar anomalies that could pose dangers or yield scientific opportunities. When crises emerge, the ship’s medical response team and colony-focused aid units stand ready to offer support. Crewmembers offer stability and assistance where local infrastructure falters.

Engineering and Operations personnel are trained in recovery and service operations. These officers can help technicians from developing Federation states upgrade to the latest standards. Taskings facing these teams range from fleet repairs to construction.

Operation of the USS Cardinal falls into Task Force 21’s greater goal of stabilizing the volatile regions under her watchful eye.

The dining hall was all glass, wood, and the faint smell of engineered wildflowers. It was Janoor III’s way of saying “we’re fine now. Really.” The lake sparkled like it had been paid to do so, while Ferengi stalls flashed neon and questionable deals. Inside, Task Force 21’s captains and [...]

The Jasnea River shimmered like molten glass in the morning’s early light. Its winding form slipped between forested banks and winded towards hills in the distance. The watery, crystalline surface caught every angle of the rising sun, turning pockets of foggy mist into rising waves of golden [...]

The shuttle hummed through the upper atmosphere of Janoor III. Light turbulence shifted the four passengers gently as they sat in the aft compartment of an aging Type-8 shuttle. Two padded benches faced each other across the narrow space. Despite the utilitarian seating and muted bulkheads, the [...]

“Now, see this here,” Commander Marlon Smythe said as he gestured toward the overhead LCARS panel with one hand while cradling a coffee cup in the other. He took one last swig and set it down in a recessed hold between the seats. “The trick with this console isn’t what’s lit. It’s what [...]
